LocalView Internet is a solution from ESRI (UK) which enables improved accessibility of online council services.
It provides a single point of access to community and local environment information and enhances the way citizens do business with the council.
The application itself allows users to perform searches on specific properties or locations and retrieve information about local administrative boundaries and constraints. Users can also identify the proximity of local services and submit fault reports directly to the council over the internet.

LocalView Internet provides the user with information centred on a selected address.
The location can be set by typing in a search address, and selecting the matching address from any returned.
Once LocalView has a valid selected address, the web page will be updated with information to reflect this.
Sections within the LocalView Internet application:
Search for and select an address->
Location Details
- this provides access to local authority information relating directly back to the selected address. This may include details such as planning constraints, boundary information, waste collection, local representatives etc. Hyperlinks are provided with some results. Click on these links to be directed to further information on related web pages.
Find the Nearest
- this provides a quick look up for the nearest services and amenities to the selected address. The name, details and distance from the selected address are listed in a table.
On the Map
- shows a map highlighted and centred on the selected address.

Report a Fault
- report faults such as abandoned vehicles, potholes and graffiti directly through to the local authority. The location of the fault is specified using the address search.

To find an address, enter the property information such as house number, street,
town etc., into the address details text box, then click on Search
.
If more than one match is found you will be shown a list of possible matches.
Select the closest match by clicking directly on the address. Possible matches for the address will continue to be displayed until a final address is selected.
If you are having problems finding an address some of the following hints may help:
The Location Details tab at the top of the page provides access to local authority information relating directly back to the selected address. To view local authority information for the selected area and to change the search address if required, follow the steps below:
All of the details under boundaries, local representatives, planning etc., will be shown in the Location Details table on the page.
Some of the details in the table will contain hyperlinks to further information contained on the local authority and other websites.
The Find the Nearest tab provides a quick look up of the nearest services and amenities to the selected address.
To Find the Nearest local services and amenities:
next to a service to widen the search if required.
Services are split into sub-categories such as Health, Education and Tourism etc. The service type and name is given together with details such as service full address and the distance calculated from the selected location.
External Links may be available from the Find the Nearest page. This section contains links to any external websites relating to the services above.
The on the map tab shows a static map highlighted and centred on the selected address.
Jump straight to the map at the bottom of the page by clicking the On the Map link.
The Report a Fault function allows you to report faults such as abandoned vehicles, potholes and graffiti directly through to your local authority. The location of the fault is specified using the address search or by typing in a description of the fault location.
There are three key steps involved in this process.
Step 1. Choose fault type
The types are arranged by categories in a list. Select the type that closest
matches the issue you wish to report. If there is no appropriate type then use
the ‘Other’ option from the bottom of the list. Upon selection to a type you
will be automatically moved on to the next step.
Step 2. Choose fault location
LocalView Internet gives you two ways to record the location.
Select a specific address for the fault, or type a description of the fault location into the text box provided. (If you already have a selected address move on to step 3).

location using your chosen method.

Step 3. Complete fault details
The final step is to complete the fault report. The information collected will
vary dependent on the fault type selected.
On completion of the fault report, a fault summary page will be displayed containing contact and fault details; including a unique reference number (report ID) for the problem. Use this reference if you need to contact the local authority about the problem in the future. If you entered your email address, an acknowledgment will be emailed through to you for your records.
